Hello all! I know been too far too long, so many toys…so little time…but hopefully some of you catch me on my Instagram or even on Youtube! Yeah I’m doing stuff on there from time to time…but enough about me, let’s talk toys!!! When I had Megatron shipped I also had THIS gem with him! So let us see if the MP title properly given…
Cheetor here comes packaged in his beast mode, and it is pretty darn good…save the back legs. I’ll get into that in a minute. The legs have all kinds of articulation so you can get awesome running poses.
AND we get the stand port!!! YAY! Now if they would package more stands. Seriously, aside from Tracks and his remolds, you would think they would be tossing them around to compete with Bandai…
Now one cool thing I have to say are the various heads. We have a kind of serene look, a surprised angry face and a kind of a leer. All of these have whiskers and working jaws which are great. Really adds some dynamic for expression…but what makes it ever more clever?
Taking a cue from some of Bandi’s figures, the Eyes are removable and can be switched around! Well…as long as you don’t get lost in those dark empty soulless sockets…Still a neat feature if you plan on doing some fun photography in beast mode.
Now I mentioned the back legs. Well it is the same issue with Primal of seeing robot bits in the legs. Now again, do I have an answer/solution to this? No. But again, because this is a MP figure, these are the things to nit pick about.
So before you transform Cheetor, you have to remove his accessories. You have a rifle made from his tail and rear hips, and a pistol from his…well…guts.
You don’t want to lose these because THIS is what you are left with after you remove em. Not too pretty. So if the Preds disarm Cheetor he can’t transform…hmmm…and then he would seize up from the energon…hmmm…that would have made a good story actually…but anyway…
Bot mode is pretty cool I have to say…perfect? NOPE, but pretty cool. My biggest gripe is not ankle tilt. Which is a shame because his leg transformation is pretty damn cool. But that lack of tilt is a bummer. Also the arms…they have a weak connection to the torso. I mean they look good and so far feel solid, but if he took a shelf dive, those arms would be my top concern. Then the hands…NO WORKING THUMBS! On a MP that is pretty much unheard of. You have to fiddle the gun around it, which has me worried on breakage or pain scraping…and finally, the pistol does not want to peg into his hand, for me at least.
We also have 3 alt faces. A surprised, neutral and angry face. I have him displayed with the angry one.
One cool thing, he seems to be specifically engineered for the sniper pose. The I could only get him to just gingerly hold the gun due to its design.
I do have to give points though that the designer did incorporate weapon storage. Makes him a tad top heavy, but nothing scary.
Oh and he has a stand port in bot mode as well, which does lend to some cool in the air poses.
In the end…well he does look good with Primal, which is the most important part. So as far as a recommendation, here is the deal…did you buy Primal and love him? Then get Cheetor. Casual Beast Wars fan? Get him second hand from a non scalper…but if on the fence, I’ll be frank, pass on him. Cheetor is a solid B. I don’t think MP figures though should be B grade figures though.
