If you haven’t noticed, I’m working on expanding the media, so hopefully you caught the unboxing of these. I looked at the Blue, Yellow and a the Black Lion, but we are looking a bit more in depth of the limb lions. So…LET’S GO VOLTRON FORCE!
So this is going to be more of an overview. I’ll be blunt, by now more sites are doing crazy over detailed reviews. What I’m going to do is go over some of the highlights, things I like and such. I won’t go over each crazy joint, twist and ratchet. We are here to ENJOY these toys! So let’s talk toys. The legs are all die cast with solid clicking ratchets. I will say you almost want to wear gloves because damn it if I didn’t leave finger prints on the haunches.
They are able to sit which is pretty badass. All five can make this so if you chose to display your lions in a static pose, no issue. You know someone shelled out the cash to do this and in the combined mode…now this pose does show one of my sort of nitpicks…the red and green lion are just TINY compared to the blue and yellow. With the Playmates one they were about the same size. Now I know it is more for the combined mode, but still they could have gone a third larger?
Each lion is able to hit some nice pouncing poses. The hips are on hinges to hit the angle, but the paws are
not on tilts *EDIT* it turns out they are, just mine were REALLY tight. Not a complaint mind you. Also each has their built in weapon that can unfold from the back. Also the jaws do open and there are weapons inside their mouths.
Now speaking of weapons, I HAVE to show this. This is a neat accessory all Soul of Chogokin figures come with. A thematic weapon stand. In this case like the Castle of Lions. It has the Voltron logo, but it did also come with a Go Lion one as well. This stores not only the weapons for Voltron, but for the individual lions!
Each lion has a blade and a pair of shoulder weapons. They peg into the shoulders securely. They look fantastic all armed up. Seriously, now I bet there is a fan who bought THREE sets, one displayed combined, one crouching, and one armed up…I got a kid and a mortgage…I’m happy with one set…but man…they do look so good…
Finally the heads do come off! This happened a few times in the show, where the head was kind of used like a shuttle. It is neat, there are these adaptor pegs in the weapons tray that make the head port able to have a tamashii stand plug into it for the flying head look.
Ok, total squad goals here…fully armed and together these guys look fantastic. The set as a whole is fantastic, but man it is pricey. I’m not grading this set because frankly by now you either have it, have it on order, or are not the type to put in that kind of money in a set. I’ll be blunt, I was the latter UNTIL this set (and the Megazord one). I will say that if you put in the money, you will be happy.
