Hello and happy New Year! I know a bit late, but hey, it’s only a week in and it has been a busy year already. With this entry we are looking at a figure I picked up on 12/30/16, so it JUUUUST edged it’s way to my top 10 of 2016. Which if you haven’t watched, well…just watch it. I need the views…ANYWAY, this guy made it in and read on to see why!
So Spidey 2099 got himself a new spiffy costume. I actually do recommend reading the new book, because it will illustrate my few gripes, as well the fact that it isn’t a bad read. Forget all that though, because damn this is a sweet ass toy. Look at all the paint! LOOK AT IT! The feet have the blue high lights, the gloves and even the joints have color. I freaking love the blades on the gauntlets.
There is paint down the fingers even! I don’t think I have seen so much detail on a simple buck like this.
It’s all over! Even under the @#$%ing arms! Hasbro I have to commend you on this…but now my first gripe…if you read the comics, Spidey here has web wings for flight. I would have loved some kind of peg in ones like the ones used in Spider woman, or a plug in on the back (there is no hole on the back what so ever) like what was done with Morbius.
Then we get to these butterfly joints. These fantastic full motion butterfly joints.
This is the Michael Phelps of action figures here. I mean this just allows such a dynamic!
You can pull his arm back as if he is about to delivery a haymaker to end all. This just adds a so many wonderful options.
He even passes the one legged standing test. I admit I don’t do this often with Legends, so this may not be a super big deal, but it makes me smile none the less.
if you follow me on Twitter or on Instagram (@TruStarscremer the links are on the right) you will have seen this. Really a nice marvel of balance and use of joints. I was having way too much fun with this figure if you haven’t guessed.
Look at that neck articulation! If only my other figures who fly could look up like that. Also if you have the Civil War Ironman, the blasts effects peg into his boots for his flight effect. And this comes to my next gripe.
Because despite how awesome this body mold is…the paint, the details…that is all we get (well and the build a figure piece)! No extra hands at all! I could almost deal with no web hands, but an open claw hand is really a must with 2099. The talons are a part of him, plus the aforementioned flight gear.
Despite those gripes, this is a MUST have figure. I am really excited what they will do with this body type. The butter fly joints, the balance, all of it gives us the total package. He is bulky enough for a Captain America or even a new Winter Soldier. Really this may be new contender for the Bucky Cap mold. Either way I give this figure a solid A+. Coming from left field, it hits all the right buttons for a figure fan.
