Happy holidays all! Sorry, no eight reviews of Hanukkah this year, with the job and all, just can’t pull it off. Now today is 12/26, I have yet to see Rogue One, so this is going to be a review with ZERO ties to the figure! The Scarif trooper is apparently a Walmart Exclusive. So yes, one store only…but let us see if it worth tracking down.
At first eye there is a LOT of good on this figure. The first thing that caught my eye was the dirty armor. I this is some great paint work. The off color, the weathering, this all shows some real love put into the design. Speaking of, the helmet is pretty damn cool, showing just a new type of personality of the trooper. I also love the folds in the leggings and all the pouches. The only accessory he has is his rifle. This is just a flat cast of plastic, with no place to store alas.
The love is full 360 by the way. You just have to love the details they put into these figures.
Once again the Black Series guys gets things right I just *wish* the Legends crew could some how figure out. The joints are colored properly! Tan for the boots and brown for the pants! it bugs me seeing the red plastic joints on the blue Spidey arms and legs.
Articulation is average. He can take kneel with a bit of work. One thing I like with the Troopers is that instead of a waist swivel, it has the torso twist. Just gives a cleaner look. Unlike Legends, Black insists on single jointed arms. I just don’t get that. Seriously, the two teams just need to have a meeting one day and trade each other their secrets lol.
Compared to a traditional Trooper, you can see the difference. The Scarif Trooper just has more attitude, personality. I bet the two squads just hate each other, the formal Stormtroopers finding the Scarif guys crude, while the Scarif believe they are the toughest.
You should really pick up one of these guys, or better yet two. As I said, this is a Walmart exclusive (yet the commander is common, go figure…need one actually). The good news is it seems they are putting out a case at a time. Even better, Walmart (at this present time) is selling them for only $16 and some change. Really army building friendly, but don’t be a jerk and clean them out. These really add some diversity to your Stormtrooper line up, and the paint on them is just excellent. I give this figure a solid A.
