He’s BACK!!! I’m sorry for the leave of absence but I have recently changed careers and there was job training and was out of town and…oh I lost your attention HEY I HAVE A TOY REVIEW HERE! Ok, glad to have you back! So I was able to snag me the, as of right now, elusive Wallgreens exclusive of Titans Return Brainstorm! (Seriously though, why WALLGREENS?? Still don’t get it Hasbro…). So of course we have to ask, is he worth the hunt and heart ache?
Well let us start out with the altmode! This is a nifty futuristic jet…sort of…I’ll get more on that I assure…But it has all the things Brianstorm needs. Dual guns in the front? Check (sadly not removable like Smart Robin). Wings and thrusters? Yup. WHOLE lot of cyan for the front? YUP. So all in all we have Brainstorm.
And yes, like all Titanmasters, the hatch opens…here is the thing. This is a remold of Blurr. First, he’s a car, so NO STANT PORT! That is a crime for a jet. It’s a car mold, remodeled, so when you put them side by side…
Yeah he’s Blurr with wings. Ok, no, I really need to give Hasbro credit, the added air intakes, the remolded front and spoiler/tail fin…but still, It’s Blur with wings…Not hating, just…well…I still want my Arcee from this mold.
Transformation is EXACTLY like Blurr’s and yields us another awesome robot actually. The Titanmaster is the same, just with less pain. The face actually does have a dash, but I think Hyperfire still has the most of all the Titanmasters at this time.
Ok bot mode is where it is at. I loved Blur, and the added details and changes look fantastic. I am actually surprised Blur came out first with Hasbro’s current trend of giving us the alt deco’s first (and why Sentinel Prime is shelf warming while I can’t find an Astrotrain in North Carolina…). I was really taken aback to the love put into this guy. There is a TON of paint and stickers applied. This guy has THREE Autobot symbols! Seriously, they were getting stingy. I really like the fake wings on the upper arms like the tail fin. He has the same gun as Blurr, just not painted (forgiven) and the front becomes a shield, arm cannon or used by the Titanmaster.
One fun thing is that you can alter the silhouette with the wings. A nice touch.
Also you can achieve the IDW style as well!
With a bit of trickery mind you.
Man in all the excitement I forgot to mention he passes the one leg test!! Oh Hasbro, how you are just full of wonders sometime…This better be the new standard of figures, because the last few rounds just don’t compare…
All this and we still get the stand port for robot mode. I may just not transform him to be honest. I really like robot mode, I mean while the alt mode works, the bot mode has all the love. Transformed he just looks like…
Blurr…with…wings…ok, I’m also going to have to display these guys on separate shelves I think…damn.
Jokes aside, this guy is dead on awesome. I would be calling him my favorite of the Titan Returns line except for two things. First, got Blurr. He still owns this mold so still have to give him the full props. Second, well I just saw a review of Triggerhappy…so…we will see…Still to go back to the original question posed..Is he worth the hunt? I can give you an resounding YES. Don’t go pay scalper pricing, but if you can get a really cool bud to hook you up, it’s worth paying the shipping. Brainstorm here has earned his A. Now…he just needs a brief case…
