Hey all! Did you miss me? I know I missed all of you…ok, like the three of you…but man you guys are awesome! Anyway, we continue with this FANtastic Titan Returns line! Our subject is Highbrow, which if you recall received the 3rd party treatment earlier with not the best results. So, let us see if $20 can beat $60 +…
Starting out with the altmode again Hasbro nailed it. This is a slightly updated, less clunky version of the G1 Highbrow. Zero complaints. The fact it sits LEVEL just gave him points ahead of Browing II I havet to say. Plus the coloring…oh the blue and grey with some red high lights and black plastic to break it up…I mean I *may* hit the silver marker on the rear fan, but that is nitpicking.
I freaking LOVE the detailing on the cockpit. The air intakes are a neat touch. Again the asymmetrical front makes me smile.
Oh and the Titan Master has no issues sitting! Again points for first party.
Finally yes, we even have a standport in the alt mode! Yay!
This lovely shot came from my Twitter (@truStarscreamer, seriously…you should be following! I post all kinds of fun stuff there…) and man this shot would be perfect with one more flyer…that I hope my Wallgreens will actually stock.
Before I get to the robot mode, I have to talk about the Titan Master. Again a GREAT looking one with painted eyes! This makes such a difference! When it is all single colored it just looks cheap. Just a few brushstrokes makes a world of difference I tell you.
Transforming Highbrow to bot mode he looks perfect. I love the face! We get a bit more color to break up the sculpt, and I really had no desire to break out the panel lining pen. The chest is interesting with the panel that pulls out slightly. They may have been going for the tech spec throwback, but only the designers know for sure. I will say gives the sculpt a bit more definition.
IT’S ONE LEG TEST TIME BABY!!! When was the last time I did this? (Oh right, Browning II) Seriously…the joints are PERFECT, as is the balance. I haven’t had a Hasbro figure tempt me for this pose in quite while…
The rest of the articulation is up to par save a waist swivel. The rest more than makes up for it. I really like the shoulders. Highbrow does come with his two pistols which also combine to make up the titan master gun…but no real way to hold it combines, so get your own to see that.
Standing with his brothers in arms, they look great together. All to scale quite nicely…and I do need to review them I know…
I had to break out Browning II, and well, the let down got worse. Hasbro did it, and Takara of course will look just that much better, but the first party one. This is just a better figure, a better toy…just a LOT more fun!
I highly recommend Highbrow. He keeps the positive momentum going for this line! If just for the standports alone! Kidding… Also when messing with this figure I made a neat observation. This is a HEAVY retool of the Scourge body! I mean if you know where to look, you can see where the similarities are. One of my favorite reviewers, TMan978 said that is if Hasbro is using the Marvel Legend model of using different parts to make new figures. We will see, but this is impressive none the less. I have to give Highbrown here a solid A, and if you see him, toss him in the basket!
