Ok…I am done with Third party for a while, I need a palate cleanser…hmmm…I could always finish that Fall of Cybertron Bruiticus review…or that Kamen Rider Abyss figuart that is STILL boxed up…oh wait, what is this? A NEW Transformers line? Oh well, back to the back log you guys go, we got something here! So let’s just tear this open and see how this goes!
Ok, this is not a drill here…we have a freaking FANTASTIC action figure by Hasbro in our hands. This is an awesome rendition of Scourge. I mean the colors look great, some nice decals, umm…the face detailing looks just perfect. Heck the body joints are tight! I do NOT have to break out floor polish!
Articulation is pretty decent. I’d have loved a waist swivel or ankle rockers but I won’t quibble. There is minimal paint on the robot mode, the face seemed to get most of the budget on that, but the decals do help. The plastic is appropriate though, so the over all look makes me smile.
You know what REALLY makes me smile? Stand ports. Hell yes!
Oh wait, we are! With the Titan’s Return gimmick, EVERYONE is a headmaster! Seriously…aside from the scout figures…everyone.
These tiny guys are neat though. Scourge’s is named Fracas, like his old Target Master partner back in the day. I have no idea the story behind this change…but I hope it means he comes back in the comics. Not much articulation on these guys, but the head does swivel on a ball joint as do the shoulders. These are about the same size as the old diaclone figures actually.
Unlike Fans Project (still sore about them) they headmasters…errr…Titans are universal. So when you buy others, yeah no Ifs here, you can switch them around.
His weapon can even work as a gun emplacement, so he still can get a target master partner.
Altmode…oh this is a thing of G1 beauty! We get a bit more paint on the side ports and after that it is blue and teal goodness! The transformation is simple, but really fun by the way. A bit of a shell former, but the leg conversion is really clever.
The cockpit opens up for Fracas to ride in.
Also that gun emplacement works a LOT better in this mode lol
Finally on the underside while there is a bit of robot kibble there are the two leg flaps reversed. See those two holes?
MORE STAND PORTS!!! This is the kind of thing that shows the love. I know I tease about displaying in altmode but THIS would be more than reasonable. I could totally get two more Scourges, use the single titan masters as new heads and have true Sweeps. Then display them in altmode on a Tamashii Trident stand…oh that would look hot lol.
Aside from a few more joints I really don’t have too much to complain about here. This is an excellent figure, and really what the fandom has been needing. Hasbro, the 1st party is stepping up the game and it shows. Cosmetically yes I wouldn’t mind a bit more detail…
you know…I do have this Gundam Pen here…hmmm…oh look, there are panels I could line…Ok, if you have been following me on twitter (@truStarscreamer) you would have known I’ve been wanting to panel line him since I took him out of the box…well…
Just a little bit of love and yeah looks fantastic. Just really gives his body some definition. So I have to say Hasbro did us right with this figure. I have a few more to open up and go over, but this is going to be a VERY strong line I think. I am giving Scourge here a rock solid A.
