Ok, some how I don’t quite know how mind you…these NECA figures just appeared in my collection! T800, a Robocop…three freaking endoskeletons and Jason (but we all know he just shows up)…and now we have the T1000! Ugh, next thing you know I’ll have a bunch of Jaegers…(*Checks Toy Fair news* OOOOH look at that Ash!) Anyway, today we look at the other badass from Terminator 2, the T1000. Needless to say, following up on the T-800 Review this guy has a high bar to reach, so let’s get into this!
Well, this is a pretty good looking Robert Patrick figure I have to say. Looks ready to pick a fight with John Cena, lead a squad to Atlantis, or even take on a few X-files…ok, I actually am a big Robert Patrick fan, I admit it. The body sculpt is pretty cool. It’s just really stiff. Don’t expect any kneeling or one legged stances here. Still the police suit has all kinds of nice cloth wrinkles and details in the right places. The radio is part of the sculpt and I had to fix the antenna. There is also a holster for his pistol that is pretty snug.
He does have an alternative hand to plug in to hold the gun as well. Honestly I think that should have been a standard hand and have two flat running hands, but that is just me. He holds it solid though. Still that is just the surface of all the extras this guy is packaged with…and now the fun begins…
He has not just one but two (see title card) other alt hands that have the extended blade. These are also easy to switch out faster than you can say “call for John.” They do need a bit of straightening out though, I hear either a hair dryer or boiling water can assist.
Trying to remove the hands I hit a MAJOR QC issue…the arms came out!! No, just kidding, the arms do pop out because of THIS awesome feature:
He has the freaking pry bar arms! These are painted wonderfully! The dry brushing fades just right to have that fluid look to it.
It doesn’t stop there, oh no…we have an entire new chest piece that has been shot a few times. I love how the silver turned out, really showing the liquid metal look.
Plus if one of those shots gets him in the face…we have a head for that! I plan on having some fun with this one I have to say…
Finally we have the cleaved in have head. I’ll be honest, I could have lived with out this one. It’s cool, and again fantastically painted, but I don’t know…just felt we could have gotten something else instead.
Now the neat part with all these accessories of course is to mix and match…which kind of is how I feel about this figure in the end.
This is a solid figure, and it is essentially shuffling together the previous releases of the T1000 into one package. But sadly I kind of want more. Instead of the split head, I think we should have gotten the motorcycle cop helmet, and the gesturing hand from the Galleria Mall figure.
Don’t get me wrong, I am more than happy to have this figure in my collection, but with the Ultimate moniker, well, it doesn’t feel Ultimate like T800 did. Plus for a figure based on liquid, he is rather stiff in the articulation (yeah held that one in). So in the end I have to give this guy a B+.
