Happy Hannukah! Alas this year not going for the 8 reviews, but will still get you some great presents! Today we open up with an icon from the 90’s. NECA’s Ultimate T-800 from Terminator 2 Judgment Day…or as some people say the last good one…(though for the record I was a huge fan of the Sarah Connor Chronicles). NECA is a new bag of tricks for me I have to say, usually for my domestic market I’m a Hasbro kind of guy as you all know with a few exceptions. After reading Figure Fanzero’s review on this guy though plus a few other’s, well I had to take a chance…so after fixing a few fireplaces for extra cash I came home with this guy, so let’s see how he rates!
Where to begi—holy crap it’s ARNOLD!!! I mean seriously, I have a little Ah-nold! The level of love and detail in this figure is astounding. The folds in the clothes, the jacket are natural. The metal on the zippers in the boots and buckles pop. Hell the jacket has been peppered with bullet holes and the gloves even have the proper details on the fingers that I don’t think I have ever seen on an action figure. Well not on one under $30 let’s just say.
He is packaged with all kinds of weapons. The shotgun looks amazing. I love the wood grain on the stock, the etchings on the barrel…yeah just the total package.
Next we have the grenade launcher as well as ammo bandolier. It is short one shell because it happens to be in the launcher. Also we have another head with out the sunglasses now. These just pop on and off with ease.
Finally we come to the headliner, the grand daddy Gattling gun. Oh man, if THIS isn’t how you display him, there is a problem. This was done so well…the bullet chain is flexable, but doesn’t feel fragile. The duffle bag has a nice curve on the inside for laying flush against his leg. Plus the weapon is held just right to allow adjustments to the pose.
Finally while we have gone through the guns, there is one final accessory, the battle damaged head. Bits of meat and metal merged with random chunks taken out…oh yesss is all I can say. Seriously this got the 5 star treatment.
Now I haven’t talked too much about articulation, because frankly there isn’t a ton. Still there is ENOUGH. This is the Terminator, not a ninja. The joints are hidden which I love, and they give us just enough to make the simplest pose not only photogenic, but honestly looking like it was from the movie.
This guy set me back about $25 and I am more than satisfied with what NECA has given us. I was never much of a fan of their stuff, like all their Predators and such (honestly just didn’t want another rabbit hole lol, oops) but I had to see what it was all about. They did not disappoint me in the least.
Now this line is in the 7″ scale, but a Terminator towering over your other figures isn’t a bad thing. Though keep in mind he will scale well with the Arkham Knight figures and SIC lines.
This is a fantastic figure for a collection. It’s a great figure actually for a non collector, and just a movie fan. NECA captures all what the Terminator is and with the varied heads and accessories. One thing I really liked was that unlike Figuarts, I wasn’t overwhelmed with extras. We get just enough. This exceeded my expectations and for the price point, leaves nothing to want. Solid A+
