So again we go back to Batmobile: Arkham Knight….errr…Batman…video game figures! This time we are looking at the titular Arkham Knight himself…and since the other figure we looked at was the Red Hood, there is kind of a theme here…it also makes the comparisons more interesting, if you are in the know.
At first gander, the Knight is visually awesome. There is some serious love put into the sculpt and paint with theses figures. From the crosshatching on the padded armor, to the pouch details and the boot straps. The helmet looks fantastic, and the armor has all these reinforcements decked out in detail. With that, I love this guy from head to toe.
That high quality of detailing an paint are all over the figure. I love the spinal plating on the armor myself. Visually this figure knocks it out of the park, you have to give DC Collectables full credit for that.
Accessories are..well..just this one gun. It IS an awesome rifle though! If you look at the details, you see the bat symbol on the barrel, and it is sculpted as if the two pistols were merged to one gun. 100% impossible by any standards of engineering mind you, but VERY cool.
It is a shame he didn’t come with one of the pistols though, because he looks pretty damn badass using it. Now only one hand is sculpted for holding the gun, but that allows the other to be used for the dynamic poses.
Ahh, now let’s talk articulation…again like Deathstroke before, waist down he is pretty decent. Also again, NO JOKES. I would like to say the hips could give us a bit more room for movement. Unlike Deathstroke though we do have an ab crunch on top of the swivel. This really helps, especially in standing poses to look a but more imposing. The ab crunch on mine was realllly tight, perhaps from the paint at first, but it worked out well.
With the arms though…oh man…single jointed elbows and no upper arm swivel. Let me tell you, the omission of those on this figure was an absolute CRIME. It makes it really tricky for two handed poses with the gun. No chance in hell for a “snipers” pose looking down the sights of the gun.
It’s a real shame because Red Hood HASS these features! I mean these two should share a bit more on the build because…well…you know…Also it is amusing that Knight is a bit taller, but I give credit to the boots for that.
I wanted to give this guy full aces. As a display piece he is fantastic. Cosmetically flawless actually. The arms are true killers though, they just don’t allow the full personality of this figure show. If only the love and the detailing of the DC figures could just meet with the articulation of the Marvel Legends…I’d gladly pay $25-$30 in a heart beat, with EITHER comic universe to be honest. I mean when I FIRST had him in my hands I was just a really happy geek, but after handling and trying to pose him, it was just a let down. So with that I have to give the Arkham Knight just a B+.
