Final stretch here! We have today the final member of the first Warbotron team, Fierce Attack! This guy brings an Onslaught of potential to the team (see what I did there? Did ya?) and can even be said to really bring them all together…ok, enough with the bad jokes, lets get this going!
Fierce Attack comes to us in truck mode (even though the instructions start in robot…) and it is LOOOONG! Colors are stark, and a ton of molded detail. I don’t know why, but I love the windshield wipers. Out of the gate though I have issues. The cannons. They just kind of sit there. I don’t know if the peg holes were just drilled a smidge too wide, but there is almost zero friction. So if you want to tip the guy, they will just slide out. The shield crest is almost in the same boat, but on a slightly sturdier peg.
This is still a marvel to hold and look at. Also the missiles were in separate bags, I had to find a picture in the instructions on where to place them. They weren’t directly addressed.
To give an idea of the scale, the rear portion can hold Heavy Noisy just fine…and that is a freaking tank!
The rear portion disconnects, and has zero use in robot mode. I under stand the hows and whys…but still, no way to use it? I’ve had to personal cannon it that it is like Prime’s trailer and does the vanishing act. I guess I wouldn’t mind it as much if the cannons could attach on to the cab form with out looking sloppy.
Accessory time! We have the feet components, the hands as well as a big honking gun for the combined mode. This lovely configuration I had to rip off a guy at TFW, because again in the instructions…well there is NADA in the instructions! Speaking of more lack of information, we also get a new torso for Airburst. I had to find a tutorial from this guy! Same with the replacement ankle tilts…*sigh* I applaud the effort and the money spent for making the new stuff, but information is vital!
Anyway, now let’s look at the robot mode. I do enjoy it…well…most of it. The cannons on the back? Well thanks to the instructions not actually mentioning them, I had to figure out the back has pegs that go into the cannons, not vice versa. Also the arms are SUPER tight! I may need some shock oil to lube them up slightly.
Fierce Attack does sport some epic light piping though, so that is always a cool thing. BUT the head is super loose on the ball joint. I had to thicken it up with clear nail polish.
He can wield his back cannons like hand weapons. As well as they can be shared with the other members of the team. Fierce Attack also has peg holes in his arms, but they are too loose to actually hold anything really.
Articulation is ok, but with the back cannons he is seriously back heavy. He does have heel spurs though to help off set. No one leg standing test for this guy though.
His mass just doesn’t really let him hit any crazy dynamic poses, plus with the super tight arms, you just hesitate. Aside from the back cannons Fierce Attack doesn’t come with any personal hand weapon. The combiner rifle is just too awkward for him to hold.
Fortunately one of Warbotron’s saving graces is there surplus of weapons lol…
All in all, I have to say I’m let down with the main guy. I am glad he came last, because if he was the first release…oh dear lord I would have dropped this project. I couldn’t recommend him as a stand alone character, which is rather sad. Being the leader he was greatly anticipated…he’s not bad, but with the nagging issues you always feel like you are getting the beta test figure. I have to give the big guy here just a B+
Now…only one thing is left to review…so stay with us folks…it’s coming…
