Back to the robots that started it all, we have Transformers Combiner Wars Stunticon Dragstrip! This is the only Decepticon in the first wave so I figured he needed some love. So does the Stunticons bring us back to Nostalgia land? Read on!
Starting with the alt mode, Dragstrip is still his yellow open wheeled racer. Yes he only has four wheels, but honestly the last time a six wheeled racer was on the track was back in 2000, so this gets a pass.
Dragstrip is yellow with a touch of maroon for his paint job and nice silver rimmed tires. Really couldn’t ask for more.
Plus you can add the weapons for…umm…well the hand/foot gun kind of works, but the sword I would just leave out.
Dragstrip’s robot mode…well damn it is just perfect. The colors look great in this mode, though the combiner peg is a bit of an eye sore.
But look at that face!!! I love the visor with the “tears” and that stoic frown. This is a stone cold killer bot.
I admit, I like him holding the sword in the under hand grip, kind of ninja assassin-sh. Just helps this thuggish killer look. Plus he can hit the action poses. Again like Firefly pretty much the same articulation, knees, elbows, waist, bicep…all that is good and great…
One leg test? Pass!!
The hand/foot/gun thing is here, but I kind of like it as an armor piece. It pegs to his shoulder nicely and looks cool for bum rushing. I just don’t feel it like a gun personally.
Leg mode looks great, nice and clean…
Plus we have a very viable arm. I will admit I’m tempted to get the Perfect Effect add on combiner parts, but the Hasbro ones are adequate.
Not sure how much more there is to say, after a sampling of each team, the Combiner Wars have my full attention. Great for my collection…not so good for my wallet. I may review one or two more limbs if they bring something new to the table. Next I hope to get the main body guys and of course will have to showcase the combined form.
As for Dragstrip here…if just as a stand alone figure…I give him a solid A.
