When the Alien Warrior was announced, so was this guy. I have passed over the NECA versions, the Revoltech version…but couldn’t say no to a Bandai. Pre-ordered on the spot. The Wolf here is based on the main Predator from Aliens vs Predator. Did he let me down (like the movie did)? Or do my figures now have something ELSE to worry about stalking them on my shelves…
Strait up, real talk, if you need to be told what this guy is…get off my page and go download Predator, and man I feel old. Ok, back to the review. Holy f…this thing is DETAILED. The skin, the webbing, the legs…the DREDS are individual pieces. Holding him, I was just looking at him from all angles, and nothing is left out. There are weapons you peg in, such as the whip and the staff, but everything else is already on him.
One of the most impressive things are the armor and bandoliers. All are loose, so they don’t restrict movement. The necklace of trophies, the skirt on his loin cloth, the bandolier…all these are loose. They really give some fluidity to the figure. Oh and because you can see it really well, the plasma caster? It is just pegged into his back but on simple hinges and swivel. It aims perfectly, nothing like the cannon on War Machine.
Articulation is…good. He is not a ninja, or a Figuart. I mean he has the double knees and elbows and all, but because of his mass, he’s not gumby.
The big thing about this guy is the details and the accessory count. Almost every weapon, save the plasma caster has two versions and of course the proper hands to wield it. For example, the gauntlet blades are actually removable and can be replaced with extended ones…
Which can really ruin a target’s day. (Man as if Go-Buster Red didn’t have enough problems in his life…)
The spear, it pegs to his back when not in use but can be held. Be careful, the spearheads are sharp, but thin. I worry that they may catch one day on something and snap.
There is also an extended spear, much like in Predator 2 and of course the AVP films.
Great for holding any trophy aloft.
One of the more interesting accessories is the medical instrument. The needle never quite reaches any part of the figure, but it is kind of cool. Just a pain getting that into his hand.
Oh and did I mention we have an entire second head? Wolf actually comes packaged with this one on. He has one broken mandible, so this ugly mother lover is just that much uglier.
You also get a second set of mandibles that are angled out for him to shout out in rage or challenge.
Pretty much can give the ultimate “come at me bro.” Oh and remember when I said all the weapons have two forms?
We also get the extended version of the whip. I LOVE this thing. Just light enough to not pull the arm down, but doesn’t feel fragile. I wish the Alien Warrior’s tail was made like this.
Finally, accessory wise, you get a tiny vial of acid. Neat, but something that small is begging to be lost.
The Predator Wolf has just about every detail covered you could ask. Even the flip up self destruct consol. I really have zero complaints. Yes, always want more articulation, but this isn’t a human based figure. I mean from the individual dreds, the details of the claws and sandals, it’s all here. My final verdict is that he is collection worthy hands down. I got mine from Anime-Island.com, but they seem to be sold out at this time…that is ok BECAUSE they just put ANOTHER more heavily armed version up on pre-oder. You will want to snag him.
