In Space…no one can hear you…no, not going to do it…BUT what I am going to do is tell you about one of THE most awesome figures that has graced my shelves…is it perfect? No…but still, you want to read this one..
The Alien Warrior is based on the Alien vs Predator movie design…so what we have is the only good thing to come out of that movie (really, Serpents? It’s a BUG HUNT). This is not the first Alien figure of course, but LOOK AT IT! The detailing on this is just jaw dropping! From the translucent head piece to the exposed rib cage and tendons, this is the figure I have been dreaming of.
The spindly body just translates wonderfully. The coloring is sick in accuracy. I mean it just has this…wet and slimy look it has.
Articulation is top notch. I mean this uses the Figuart joints! The toes even can flex, as do the tube things on its back…Now the neck, I have issues with this because it just pops off to easy, so while you can look all around, it just falls off.
Then we have this tail. It is huuuuuge! It is separate when boxed, and the plug, well it seemed too large for the port it attaches to. I had to jam that bad boy in there. I have some issues though with this tail. First, it is floppy as all hell. If it was based with a wire or something, that would have been cool, but instead it just flops to the left and right, not able to hold a pose. My other issue is that if it flops with too much force, or you try to twist it at too sharp an angle, it will pop out of joints. It is kind of a buzz kill.
What’s not a buzz kill? Working jaws…and a working inner jaw/tongue thing! It just slides out, but we have that last iconic detail. Now if not a fan, this does lock inside the head. You may have to remove the jaw though to pull it back out for future poses.
Accessory time! Been ages since I have said that…Well I mentioned before that the Alien uses Figuarts joints, so it has some hand selections. A curled hand, partially open, and fully splayed hand. Plus being Figuart joints, you can actually use them on the Figuarts. Poor KR Black here (original) has found out Energon can spark a slight mutation…
We also have a brilliantly colored Act 4 stage, an Alien egg and a little chest burster.
The egg is just molded plastic, nothing special honestly. I personally would have thought it cool if it had two different tops, un-hatched and hatched, but this still is cool.
I mean it still looks harmless enough for any passer byer to examine…
But then we all know what that end result would be…Now while having a chest burster is kind of neat, this thing can’t lay flat. It has a curled tail and is also a single cast. So nice to have, but in the end, it stays in the packaging.
Finally, with the stage, this helps keep the guy stable, because man, that tail just doesn’t let the figure stay stable!
The total package though is still an awesome figure despite the flaws. Really, for an Alien figure I am want for nothing.
It’s nice an creepy…ready to stalk the rest of your collection…
Or challenge those who think they are top of the food chain…
Finally, if you had that one fan fic you needed a visual aid for…this is the guy. I really can’t recommend it higher. I got mine from Anime-Island.com where they also have the Predator available, as well as the Alien from first Alien film. I am VERY excited!
