For the record, I do NOT collect Star Wars. It was a rabbit hole that I dared not even look down into. Then I saw this guy at the same toy show I got that last Spiderman. I mean it’s BOBA FETT. You can’t call yourself a fanboy with out liking this guy, so I picked him up. So how does this black label series of figures rate?
I will have to say I was very impressed with this figure initially. The detailing is flat out outstanding. I love the battle weathering, the scuffs, the battle hardened look. I swear it looks like Fett has knee blasters, and I’m great with that!
Articulation is…interesting. Being a 6” figure, he moves better than any other version of him. The joints are TIGHT though. Not a lot of active action in this figure. You do have all kinds of great joints though in the arms and wrists.
One thing I always dig, is a character who can draw their weapon. Just really nice touch of articulation.
Both hands are gun holding hands, so they are in the trigger grip mode. This doesn’t hinder things too much though. The neck is on a ball joint, and you can get some great subtle expressions.
We also have the trusty carbine that he is more known for.
Finally a jet pack that pegs into his back. Also note the cape is cloth (tangent: Jet pack plus cloth cape? I see a potential problem here…). So two guns and the pack, not a bad accessory count. Still he does have the peg holes that the Marvel Legends have, so a basic display stand would have been cool.
The legs are fully articulated as well…BUT we have a problem. The sculpted pouches block any major leg movement. The just go right into each other. So no deep sniping stances or kneeling with this guy. Not even a three point landing…
Not to say he can’t be wild and active, but really this is as low as I could get him.
Honestly though, this guy is a display piece, not an action figure. You find him a bad ass pose and just leave him there. Again, just look at the paints and this sculpt.
I honestly had so much fun photographing him that few faults were canceled out. If you want a great Fett at a decent price point ($20-$30) I totally recommend him. Just know what you are getting.
