Ok, I admit, couldn’t swing it…again…for the holiday…sorry…life happened…next year will try again lol. ANYWAY! This figure has some stories behind it…it was announced late 2011…hyped through 2012…annnnnd while there was a short run, it really didn’t hit until late 2013. The poor online retailers were getting bombarded by the fanboys, cancelations…and all kinds of rumors…but he is here…and…was he worth the wait?
We get our figure in two forms, the Mobine and Paladin. Both are in their tank modes. Paladin is a pretty cool dual cannon artillery piece. I LOVE the colors. Now the cannons are fixed, they are not on a turret. They are actually attached using pegs like in the Power Core Combiner series. The swords are actually sword halves…and they peg into the turret…sorta…not as flush as I like. Finally the treads are just static, no wheels, just solid plastic.
Transforming Paladin you get…this little guy. The transformation is simple, but it works…but I will say, I am NOT a fan of this fella. First and foremost are the swords’ grip. In all the pictures he is dual wielding these blades…all kinds of cool poses…but they just sit in his hands. Almost zero friction to hold them! Not cool at all. Plus he can’t hold them as a big ole blade. Nor do you want to add any nail polish because the hands hold other stuff just fine! This irked me I have to say.
Oh and can we say back pack of doom? At least the guns reach the floor…since he is so back heavy they essentially keep him standing.
This is him compared to a PCC commander. Yes more bulky, but there is something about the proportions. He feels…like a Dwarf from Lord of the Rings.
ok, NOW he is a Dwarf…gotta have the Axe after all…now with this shot, look at the arms. They are just stubby! I just feel they could have had some kind of extension.
Now pared with Paladin is the Mobine. Make Toys is releasing this in two other colors with some weapons as well. This is a neat little tank drone. Again no wheels, and the turrets just angle, no rotation. You can also see this guy is all PCC ports and pegs.
No transformation here, this just splits into pieces. Now the plastic on this part felt more dense than on Paladin. Now you can see we have hands, feet, shoulders, legs…and all using the PCC port system.
Straight up this is why I bought into the system. These fit perfect with most PCC commanders, and yeah, pretty damn cool. I will get more into this with the complete Mobine review.
One neat thing, since the half swords kinda suck, the feet pieces have handles and there are gattling cannons you can beg in to give Paladin guns.
Now combining the Mobine with Paladin we get Chaos…and THIS is why you buy this figure. This is the Fallen figure Hasbro should have released. He is big and imposing, well articulated with the PCC system…and that coloring. Just one big dark sexy bot…Also he is stable and can hold a good number of poses.
With the Mobine armor Paladin is no longer a little fella…he is a towering Beast! I know it isn’t going to happen thanks to all the drama in getting this guy…but if they made an Ultra Magnus type Paladin…I could get behind that.
This is why you buy this guy…This is why I waited over a year…and this is why I don’t regret it. Chaos is a fantastic looming evil bot for your display shelf. Factor in the fun you can have with the Mobine if you have any Power Core Combiners, you have serious play value. You will enjoy seeing this black knight block the path of any potential king in your collection…wait…that sounds familiar…
(did I mention he was stable?
