My first with a new line, Play Arts Kai! I have passed on a lot of their stuff, but when I saw this it had my interest. When my WIFE saw it, she put it in my cart and here he is in all his glory!
This review is going to be different from the usual. This is a love it or hate it figure. The Play Arts Kai line is insanely detailed, from the facial scars, the hair, to the clothing. Now because of that it is limited in posing. This is a display piece straight up. You find how you like him and leave him there. Heck the box is a display piece! So if you want to keep him there, go for it. He has 3 head choices and two sets of hands for each arm. The joints are similar to Revoltech joints, and while they do offer options, they still have their own restrictions.
His two right hands are both holding hands. One for the butterfly knife, the other for the cards. These were insane to pop out of the packaging. The left hands are an open dramatic hand, the other a fist. For the head options, there is his made up face, a clown mask head, and a post Batman interrogation beaten up face, which I have to say is my favorite. The cards and knife are tiny, so be careful you don’t lose them.
His clothing is amazing. You can feel the textures in the pants and jacket. I do like how they tried to hide the joints in the knees. His balance can be a bit off, but they do include a hefty stand if you want to use it. Now the clothing can restrict his posing, but again, this isn’t a Figuart.
This guy is going to be prominent in my display room. If you were a fan of Heat Ledger’s amazing performance, this is a figure to own. If you want something striking, this is a figure to own. You want something to fight your Batman toys, this is a pass.
