So I have all four of the initial deluxe IDW guys, and this was my most anticipated. Trailcutter/Breaker really hasn’t gotten much love in the last thirty years. I mean Inferno and Hoist gotten more love! So now we have him, was he worth the wait?
Trailcutter is a fantastic upgrade from the g1 hands down. Also the size of the new deluxe has been one of the major complaints, but when you compare to what was given in 1984…well…I am happy now. The fact the force field emitter is built in as opposed to a piece that can get lost is a step in the right direction.
The detailing is perfect, the head has light piping that picks up the light with no issues. Cosmetically the only thing I would have liked would have been an Autobot symbol in robot mode. He comes with a weapon/shield that fits great into his hand and his joints can hold it with no problems.
Actually he holds just about every post well. I would have liked a ball joint on the head so he could look up, but I won’t nit pick too bad. We have the coveted waist joint after all! But Trailcutter is ready to hold some dynamic poses.
Really, I have nothing to complain about.
When not wielding his weapon it pegs to his back. Some may say having the canopy being it’s own piece is a cop out. I like it being a separate piece if only to have less back kibble.
His alt mode is an SUV/Pickup. Really depends if you attach the shield, but there is no reason not to. I mean it does give him weapons, plus you can’t hide the force field emitter, and it looks silly sticking out. The coloring is dead on to the g1 version though. Again zero complaints.
Also in the vehicle mode we finally get that Autbot symbol
Why should Prowl get all the love?
Finally not every situation needs a force field, and Trailcutter does have a few weapon ports…just a few…I have to say this is one of my favorite parts of the new generations of figures. I almost bought those new Wreckers JUST for the weapons.
Trailcutter is a must buy. Again Hasbro hits this one out of the park, and I eagerly await Hoist as well. Plus like all the other IDW figures, we get his comic spotlight as well, and it is a fun read.
