We have in our hands the short packed twin of Dreadwing, Skyquake! Now while only appearing in two episodes, he made an impact for season two…sort of…but still, we reviewed the cyberverse and the voyager version of his brother, so is this worth hunting down?
I’ll be straight with you, Skyquake is a straight up repaint of Dreadwing. If you need the breakdown, go here. The olive green with red trim gives him a much more down to earth décor. I do love the silver faction symbols though. But it is the exact same jet. So it is all about what colors you prefer.
With static wheels, and the exposed hands, the alt mode is about 70% cool, and the rest of just *sigh*. And like his brother, the panels just don’t always line up when transforming.
The only major difference is the remold on the weapon, which still looks ridiculous. Yeah, that is the only time that will be pegged into the jet mode…ever…
He also has the same sword Dreadwing came with. Totally not in the show, but at least looks better than the gun. I still liked that vulcan cannon he had in the show.
Front and back, I do like the colors on this mold. Really gives him a bit more menacing look than his brother. Articulation is the same, you can get some good looming, intimidating poses, but no major ninja fighting styles.
Compared to his brother, one isn’t better. It is really all a matter of taste. If I could only pick one, yeah I probably would have gone with Skyquake, though Dreadwing had a ton more screen time.
Is he worth tracking down? Honestly, only if you don’t have Dreadwing, yes. If you already do, I’d only get him if you have to have the full roster. He really doesn’t add much to the collection. Coupled with him being shortpacked, you will have a devil of a time tracking him down. If you do stumble on him, sure pick him up, but you should know what to expect.
