What we have here tonight is a rare figure. This isn’t just an action figure, honestly this guy is almost art. Figuarts Silver Crow was slated for US release, but was pulled, but the guys from www.anime-island.com helped me out and made sure I got one. Read on why this is one of the coolest things to track down.
Silver Crow is from the anime Accel world. It is too much to go into, but this guy here will help with that. Silver Crow is a grey metallic body with silver limbs, highlighted with emerald. These are almost all green transparent plastic, and it is just simplistic perfection.
Silver Crow has a gorgeous sculpt. I love the legs and feet. They really do have an avian grace to them. The hips have movable panels so they don’t hinder posing.
Honestly this figure has the most grace that I have seen in a toy. He will have a highlighted spot for my displays. The die-cast feet have that awesome bird of prey look, plus they are die cast wich is always awesome. A big difference with this and the Figma is the abdominal joint. This give a nice dynamic with the body poses. Now the shoulders do make rotating the arms a bit tricky, and I do wish his head had more movement on the up and down, but I can over look that.
The accessory count is just amazing. We have here five pairs of hands, and they are the most detailed hands I have seen since Another Agito or Gills. From chopping to slashing, they are grooved and perfectly sculpted. Also very easy to change on the pegs.
Now one Silver Crow has a truly unique gimmick, his fore arm is replaceable. We essentially have three stages, normal, open, and final attack with effect piece. This adds such a dynamic when posing, and it will be illustrated in later pictures in this review. The arm just pops off, no scary tension, and the new one goes on just as easy. The only con is that the blasting arm reduces movement, and the gimmick killed any chance of a bicep swivel.
We also have two other effect pieces, an energy coated fist, not unlike W Heat’s and also an energy blade. These can pop on to any Figuart by the way, as well as show Silver Crow’s attacks.
Finally the star of the show, the wings. These are just majestic. An awesome metallic silver that just glistens in the light. The Figma are just a bit more flat colored.
They mount onto two ports on his back. The third port is for a tamashii stage to plug into, very much like a Figma figure. One is also packaged in, but it is a generic Stage 4. Don’t even bother putting the claw together, the plug in the back is the ideal way to use it.
The combination of design and accessories set this figure apart from any other in my collection I have to say. He is just majestic. By having the port in his back gives him a clean flying look. I pray they keep this design for future Figuarts.
The effect pieces just plug into place and give a true sense of action. He can be sweeping in for the final attack…
Or just getting ready to go on the offensive.
This figure really has me impressed with just what it can do. The sad thing is though, he is the only one we are getting. Also if you want him, you will have to go through third parties, or e-bay. You are looking about $60 to get him at this time. I do highly recommend him though.
