Sorry we missed a night folks, family and real life kicked in, but we are back on track, with one of a select group of Transfomers, the Combaticon Blastoff! Now needless to say, one could call him Onslaught’s right hand man, but we will get into that a bit later…
Blast off comes to us as a Cybertron rocket. Not sure if I would want to call it a shuttle but it looks like it has the power to hit orbit. That is one mean engine on his back. Now the rear (and underside) aren’t much to look at, but the rest is pretty sharp. Purple with back and yellow and just a touch of silver give him a nice alien look.
Now Robot mode, looks good I have to say. He is well detailed, evil looking face, and sports a pair of pistols that can mount on his arms seeker style if you like. The thing is, he just LOOKS good.I hate hate hate his arms. They peg into his body with tabs just a bit too long and I fear that they will snap off. His engine splits to be shoulder pads of doom that limit arm movement. Head just looks left and right, no up, and of course, no waist. The arms have a molded elbow bend, so it looks odd if you try for more than shooting from the hip poses.
The legs are fine though, hips, knees, all good. You can get some poses out of him, but ninja master he is not…
Now to cinch this up, is the meat of a Combaticon, Bruiticus. Blastoff is traditionally the right arm, and he works. As opposed to the old combiner styles, or even the Energon style, the hands are built in.
A neat thing is he has two thumbs to pick from depending on what arm you choose him to be. NICE touch on this Hasbro.
And yes, the Axe of Awesomeness can be held…this will be used in the future..oh yes..
Now while not in the instructions, Blastoff has a leg mode, and this is a nice and tight I have to say. I may actually use this for display, think more Ruination in his assault combination.
Blastoff is no where the strongest of the Fall of Cybertron line, and as a stand alone figuer I would not recommend him. The thing is, he does have four other good friends, and when the band gets together…oh keep coming back we’ll talk about them.
