So I got the big brown box the other day and inside I found this big green ox of a toy. Tamashii exclusive, so yes a bit pricey, does he meet the expectations? Read on!
The contract beast for Kamen Rider Zoda, Magnugiga is just…well…a walking arsenal. In the show he really didn’t do much, just stand there, raise his arms, and unleashed hell. I’m sure Zolda had an Advent card, but seriously, what would he do? Not exactly move and blindside someone lol.
This figure probably has more ability to pose than the actual suit did I bet. Elbow joints, hips, and even knees. He is a BRILLIANT Emerald and silver with gold. Even my wife was commenting about his green.
Accessory time! Actually he IS the accessory pack for Zolda! He breaks down into his various weapons. The thing is, taking the shoulders off the legs and chest, I kept getting worried something would snap, so don’t break him down too often. Also included are a few more advent cards and some small extras that will be mentioned.
Remember this pic? From the original Zolda review, I had the weapons laid out as if they were Magnugiga. It was almost complete save the chest and head. Now we have them!
Let’s talk the cannon first. The shoulders and arms unfold and become a MASSIVE cannon for the Shoot Vent. Compared to the one boxed with Zolda (left) we have a few inches in length. Here is the thing though, bigger isn’t exactly better. This was actually a floppy gun and would twist at the shoulders, so it wouldn’t always stay aligned. Also packaged is another set of handles for him to use, probably for an easier grip.
Next the chest becomes the Guard Vent. ok, THIS I liked, sort of…It is nice and heavy, though that makes it awkward for him to hold. BUT it has a neat little extra…
…of a complete missile barrage! So he can block the shot and then dish out another 50. That makes it a pass.
The legs become another set of back cannons. After taking off the legs, you can flip the plastic joints to reveal the back ports so this can hook on to Zolda’s back.
Ok…it’s over kill but it looks awesome…ANYWAY…The legs have the same floppy issue that the main gun has. While it allows Magnugiga to pose, those same joints I think take away from the weapons’ stability. Also included is another adaptor so the cannons can be plugged into a stage set.
The guard vent has a little notch for the cannon to slip into, so it props it up for an artillery shot. This is awesome in thought, but because of the gun being floppy, it can be tricky to get it to stay. Still, this alone is a sweet looking display…provided no one ever moves near it.
Then we have the head, which has a handle adaptor. This becomes Zolda’s Strike vent. Apparently in Ryuki there were a LOT of cool things that were on the books that didn’t happen (like the third Survive Card), and that included Zolda having a melee weapon. Hmm…no wonder he looks puzzled.
The Strike Vent has a hard molded plug, and plugs in like Ryuki’s guard vent. This keeps it stable for various poses that we never saw on the show. I bet it could fire like a gun to, just because.
Last Magnugiga comes packaged with Zolda’s Tamashii stage! I KNEW he would have one! Just it costs a ton to get it. It is a stage act 4 with the symbol on it. I am happy.
FINAL VENT! err…verdict…this guy is cool, don’t get me wrong. Excellent coloring, amazing detail on every gun port, rocket, face, cannon, and more poseability than he should have. At the same time, as second weapon set, that posing becomes a liability. Zolda already has weapons, we paid for them when we bought them. If these two had come together sans weapons pack, well, I’d have no complaints. I am glad I have him, but will only use him for the Final Vent personally. If you can get him for a good price, go for it, but you won’t be kicking yourself if you skip him.
