Well point of pride, I never picked up Prime Bumblebee…there are too many out there, and hopefully with them being shelf warmers, they will change the distribution next series. BUT Hotshot here is a repaint with a new head mold, and I think he is worth the purchase!
It is amazing what a new coat of paint can do for a car. The blue with flames invokes g1 Tracks, plus everyone knows flames makes a car go faster. The grill has a nice detail and the translucent blue windows keep the whole custom racer vibe.
Seriously though, tell me he wasn’t inspired by Robots in Disguise Sideburn. Just needed an Autobot symbol on the hood and yellow headlights. Great homage to a great figure.
Now before I get to the paintjob on the robot mode, I have to talk about the head sculpt. It has the working visor, which is just awesome. It is if he has a “let’s get to business” look to him. If you ever watched the Animated series, there was a Hot Shot on there for about 20 seconds . This head invokes that same feel.
To kill two birds with one picture, he holds a lot of nice poses. Nice clunky feet with plenty of pivot points. Oh yes a toy made for action. Coupled with the two arm mounted cannons you can have this guy in the middle of a fire fight.
Speaking of fire, let’s talk about his paint job. I LOVE the red on his shins. These look like rising flames, to invoke the “Hot” in Hotshot. The red accents really stand out on the cool blue and black that is dominant, and give some dimension to the figure.
Prime Hotshot has come a long way since the originator of the name…
And takes him out of the picture. Even if you already have the Bumblebee mold, get this guy. The Prime line is doing some AMAZING things with their repaints, and this keeps up to that standard!
