With every form of Transformers Media we almost always have an Optimus Prime, and with the up coming Fall of Cybertron game arriving in stores this month we get this guy. Does he make the cut? I mean after the last Prime I reviewed, one can only hope…
Let us start out with his vehicle mode. This is more of a mobile battering ram than a truck like in the first game. I do like his, except, well he can’t ram in the game, or at least in the demo. He two holes on his sides for weapons, two in the back under his feet, and while there is a center one, you leave his head exposed to use it. I really would have liked it if Prime had two rifles. This way there could be some balance to the arming.
Holy crap that is a tiny head! And that is my Pat Lee pose for him. There are a lot of pros, and few cons I have for the robot mode. He can hold a lot of sweet poses. The wrist rotates, the bicep has a swivel, he even has a covet WAIST swivel! Plus his legs just allow so many nice angles. Head is on a ball joint so he can look every where, and he is also balanced like Cyberverse Iron Hide.
I was able to pose him kicking in the door shouting “Daddy’s home!” He held that pose for 20 minutes while I chased the cat out of the room. His shoulders do not allow full rotation though, I have to note.
He only comes with the gun, but that is ok, he can hold THE axe, so I am happy. This shot also shows off the paint detailing. I would really have liked light piping for the eyes, but the face, while small, is still cool. The gun…it is an odd shape. Not really cool like the Generations one from a while back. Speaking of the previous incarnation…
Yup, SMALLER. This Prime is supposed to be the upgraded version. I can’t pull that one off in my head alas.
I like this figure, but NOT as Prime. Prime is badass, he is a warrior. This guy? Well I am going to call him my Orion Pax figure. Only way to shunt him in.
I don’t hate this figure, just his character if that makes sense. He has a LOT of play value, and is a really well made figure. If you are a Prime fan…you may pass. I will say, for the cost of $15, and this is all you get, if on a budget you may want to pass. No buyers regret mind you, and still a better Prime than the last 2 I purchased.
