Transformers Prime, oh how you have vexed me…if I could, I would pull a Kamen Rider Ouja on the designers. I was on the hunt for Vehicon, and still to no avail. I did find though Weaponizer Prime. I debated, and finally caved and picked him up.
And this is as far as I could go with him. I am sorry, but I never got him out of the box. This is fail and meh combined with a $30 price tag. Blatantly I do not like this figure. He is taking all that was wrong with RID Prime, combining it with the Movie Prime. Limited detailing, limited articulation…too much limits for that price tag. The box boasts “4 modes!”
Suuuure if you count guns and no guns as a mode. Now I will say, the truck with cannons, was cool, but then I could do the same with a voyager Movie Prime. That back pack he has, just screams top heavy. Of course there would be no waist. But the one part that sent me over the edge? The guns wouldn’t lock down on the one I picked up…so one of the “modes” in robot form just got negated.
So I may be a little harsh, there are some high spots. He does have a better rifle, I will give him that. And the chest is a bit better formed. Also the guns DO spin as advertised, and finally yes, the LED actually shows light.
The glow is set into the cab, so it actually has some serious shine.
The truck battle mode though…wow it looks like it is sneezing guns lol. The legs do have the heal spurs though to counter the back pack, so yes he can stand straight. I guess my major issues are more for what he doesn’t have.
Lack of articulation, lack of a melee weapon, and despite the main gimmick, a lack of some special features, I can’t justify owning this guy. I want a show accurate face plate to be honest. He walks around both with and with out the plate in the show, for this guy, it should be an option. It’s not like I haven’t gotten that before from Hasbro…
Greatest Prime that isn’t G1 ever by the way…he has it all, and should be an example to all others…
Also considering that there are no Decepticons in the Weaponizer class, he is out of scale with all the others as well. Last post was about limiting one’s collection, this is a great example of “just say no.” That or give him to your kid…it IS a toy after all.
