The second of the Cyberverse vehicle play sets is the Star Hammer. In the Prime show this brought Wheeljack to earth…then took him away again. The Autobot counter for the Energon Driller set who of course comes with a Cyberverse Wheeljack! Is he worth your time and money? Lets find out…
The Starhammer is actually a pretty simple toy. Solid plastic base with wheels on the under carriage. A simple base color of grey with orange moving parts and clear blue plastic and a bit of dark grey for trim. He has his TIE fighter wings in normal mode, and of course the LED light.
I will say the light diffuser on the ship makes it a slight better presentation than the Driller, but still…plus I didn’t find the hatch that could store the cable until after I took the shots.
The cockpit opens to hold Wheeljack or any other basic Cyberverse figure. Like the Driller, a nice bit of detail on the wings, cannons and cockpit. I will say he feels more like a toy than the Driller did. No moving parts when rolling or anything.
It has the same deployment that the Driller did, with this the cannons spring forward and the wings angle outward. Goes from TIE fighter to Snowspeeder for you Starwars fans. You can now see the spring loaded yellow rockets as well. The cannons also have the same handles that unfold for another figure to hold on to.
Now when I say hold on to, he has to have a good grip, because there is nothing for any bot to stand on! No platform, stair, nothing. I think the ability to have other figures was almost an after though.
Last but not least we have Cyberverse Wheeljack. I LOVE his car mode, it is a dead ringer for his main figure. For the robot mode, I love how the legs turned out, the rest is kinda meh for me. Has the minimal detail, but I dunno, I think I would have liked some kind of collar or hard molded wing panels. He also comes with dual swords, but these seem to be more like sabers than katanas. Went from samurai to pirate?
The Star Hammer set is ok. Does look pretty good with your other Cyberverse, but I don’t think I’ll use it as a display accessory like I am using the Driller. If you have a younger one, give them the ship, keep Wheeljack. I will say if you are at the store and only can get one of the two sets, I personally recommend the Driller of the two.
