OK! Excited two fold here…used the new light box, and got a new figure!
Zolda is from Kamen Rider Ryuki, and is the weapons guy. No joke, guns guns guns…no close combat for him. His Final Vent (ultimate attack) would destroy city blocks. And he is the latest from Bandai’s Figuarts line.
Zolda is mostly green and silver with a little black on the arms and shins. Plus covered with the ports on the knees, elbows, hips and back…oh those ports, I’ll get to them in a bit…
Zolda shares all the pros and alas the cons the Ryuki body has. Can hold just about any pose, double jointed knees, elbows, diecast feet, the works…and to account for the heavy armor, I loved the extra joints they put in the shoulder guards.
This allows full range of motion still, despite the added bulk.
The detailing is amazing. He has the removable belt buckle with the bull emblem. The helmet has his gears hard molded, the chest plate looks ready to take a howitzer shell…The lights on his shoulders are like caution lights, and brilliant yellow. Really no detail was left out, even the antenna are detailed. The legs are still the same in all the Ryuki bodies, and he does have the die cast feet with the bendy toes (I LOVE those by the way)…and then he has the ports.
Now with Ryuki, the removable ports had a purpose, to put his guard vent (armor) on, or to attach his dragonvisor…for the rest of the figures they have no purpose…but they still come off! And they pop off at the drop of a hat, the clip of a gun…because they feel lonely…I don’t know, but I spend most of the time chasing them on ALL the figures! Knight, Ouja…I’m sure Raia will have the same issue…*sigh* This is the biggest flaw, and while small, one of the most frustrating.
Now as for accessories…oh man he is loaded!
Count em…six pairs of hands! Calm, splayed, two different grips, fists, and a trigger and card holding hand…We have his Visor/gun, and then there is a port that has a clip to holster the gun with. That black clip in the upper right, I will get to that later. Not shown are the advent cards, didn’t want to lose them, but they are detailed with each attack on them, and can be held in the proper hand.
As always with Figuarts’ design they can display amazing emotion with just the use of angles and hands
Also there are the guns…notice how I have them placed. Zolda’s contract beast’s arms connect to be the shoot vent (big ole gun) and his legs become the blast vent (shoulder mounted blasters). Now the beast itself is a web exclusive as opposed to Ryuki (and Knight’s) being packaged. Not a fault, but still a grrr inducing. Chances are that will cost $80+…and unless donated not likely in my collection. These are a gorgeous emerald and silver with gold…the best looking heavy ordinance I have seen.
The Visor/hand gun is where he of course loads his cards, and does open up. Amazing detailing on this little guy…
Now all you do is take the two “arms” of the contract beast and put them together. Give Zolda the holding hands and you have one armed fellow! “Shoot Vent” = trouble…just ask Gai
The cannon was his main weapon in the show, but then there is the blast vent Shoulder cannons. Zolda has removable ports on his back
and they are embossed “L” and “R” so you know where to put them back. These marry up to ports on the blaster
This clips right on. Now you will notice this makes him quite back heavy. That black clip? It attaches to the blaster, and it has a nice slot to plug into a Tamashii stage.
This is great…if you have a set of stages (my boys at www.anime-island.com can set you up) but considering that both Ryuki and Knight came with stages…Zolda really should have as well. Still this does allow him to stand properly.
I do recommend him highly despite the flaws. Zolda’s detailing is amazing. He holds his poses, loaded with accessories and is ready to blow something up.
