So after a wonderful day in the real world I come home to a box…and inside there was this awesome specimen of the high end action figure! Now up until now I had only purchased Figuarts, but I had heard some cool stuff about the Revoltech Line, and I am an Iron Man fan, so I got Warmachine and ole Shell head himself…and he should be here any day, so look for him for future reviews…
Now just the box was screaming awesome….from the lighting for the cover shot, to the story description in Japanese on the interior, and finally the pose shots on the back…let me tell you I was stoked to get him out and free!
What makes Revoltech cool is their joint system. The revoltech joint is a socket that plugs into the parts. This socket can spin and has a mini ratchet joint. You are able to as you can see…totally take the guy apart. These joints give a great amount of movement. Even the cannon on his back uses them so it can point anywhere! Now the ammo chain does restrict that, but it is removable if you choose.
For his accessories, he has 3 pairs of hands: Fists, splayed, and chopping/salute. Also 3 gunfire bursts to attach to his guns, a little cube to hold them all in, and a name plate.
The effect parts look awesome on the guns and give a great dynamic to the action poses.
The problem is getting him into those poses…his body joint while does click and hold, still has some give. Coupled with how top heavy he is, it is hard to have him stand independently.
Now Bandai has their Tamashii stage for their figures, as does Max Factory with their Figmas…Revoltech needs to get in on this. I hate to say it, but War Machine put a few cracks on my stage from his bulk. Plus was too heavy for some of the more dynamic poses. Unless they involved say..oh…him being knocked to the ground and firing off the shoulder cannon in desperation
Or even “You fools you blew it all up!”
Now those are cool…but I know I will want him more in action, especially when I get Iron Man. I am happy I have him, but I don’t think he was an essential. I may also pick up Revoltech Prime as well, I am interested in the line after all…But these guys aren’t cheap….I’m not saying they cost an arm or a leg….but…..ok..you get my point.
